Curriculum

For the Receptions' curriculum...first, you must figure out what you want your child to learn and what your child is capable of performing. If you are cooperatively homeschooling, you need to make sure that all moms have the same expectations and all children are capable of participating and performing in the chosen curriculum. This is necessary so that the group is effective and happy. The curriculum and teaching styles must also be dynamic and adapt as the needs change or be modified to remain effective.

The basic curriculum for my youngest son was only three days and week and lasted for a full term with the standard Islamic School Holidays, with my eldest I would do the same but sometimes he would ask to have school so I'll do some small things with him. My aim with the help of Allah (swt) with my eldest was to teach him 10 surahs, simple du'a's, reading and writing both Arabic and English, basic Arabic speech and vocabulary, Phonetic sounds of all the alphabet and Maths, (numbers 1-20, sorting, comparison, shapes...). Below is a schedule for my reception class and my Stage1 class.

Basic Daily Schedule...Reception Level

 Time

Activity

8:00am to 8:30am

Talk about foods with different colours eg. “Red” fruits, vegetables, sweets etc. Then draw each child’s favorite food and let him colour it Red. Then cook something red with them eg Jelly let them help and talk about safety at the same time.

9:00am to 9:30am

Playtime: Play with letters of the alphabet and the numbers try adventurous ways to introduce a letter of the week eg. A the sound “aa”  and A for apple or aeroplane . Make the letter using playdough or finger paint the letter. Or cut the letter out of paper and paste it his book. Same ideas can be used for the numbers. NOTE: each day or week you probably need to change your ideas around so they are not bored.

10:00am to 10:40am

B  R   E   A  K

10:40am to 12:00am

English: Reading, English: Phonetics and Maths. Writing, doing add+ subs. Review the days work: if I have time/or do it the next day, with an Islamic theme

Note: Each day I would change things around especially for my youngest rep. But I

stick to generally the same things for oldest: as in the Arabic reading, the book I use is

to teach him how to read the Quraan with proper Tajweed. The gaps for my rep.Class

is to give my youngest a break so that I can deal with oldest child Alhamdulillah they co-

operate and have patience Masha Allah. But I also make my classes fun for them. So

I start the day off with an Islamic Story and remind them about it: these stories are mostly

about obedience to Allah and The Prophet or about the Sahaabas. Also I give them

encouragement to be good so they can get a star at the end of the Day. Please

see my Discipline Page and Resources for what I use. If you would like a copy of

my Full's Year Curriculum and goals please feel free to email me.
